La Crosse, Wisconsin (WXOW) ------- In March, Edward and Arlene Schumacher will celebrate their 64th anniversary.
They were set up on a blind date by Arlene's cousin and once they found out the other liked to bowl it was on.
Like most couples, the story of how they met is a little confusing but then again they have a lot to remember at their age.
Ed is 93 and his wife Arlene is 90 but none of this seems to surprise Arlene. "I don't know, my dad lived until 98. I guess I just have good genes."
As for Ed, he says he feels bad for people who think that once you hit a certain age it's over. "She worked at a nursing home in La Crescent and there were guys in there that and you know she'd get to talk to them and they'd get to be 64 years old and they quit, they just quit, like they're waiting to die. I am not waiting to die."
This couple is not together because they love to bowl together, it's because they just love to bowl. But not to be mistaken-this story is still a love story-because Ed and Arlene say they might just have found the key to a happy marriage.....bowling on separate nights.
