Sheriff chases black bear out of town

DODGE CENTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A black bear caused a commotion in the small town of Dodge Center late Friday night, scaring people who are just not accustomed to such a wild creature wandering around their neighborhood.

Dodge County Sheriff Jim Jensen says about 11:25 p.m. Friday, a big black bear came into the southeast corner of Dodge Center and began wandering around a residential area.

The sheriff and his men cornered it and chased it back into a corn field.

"I've been in law enforcement 34 years," the sheriff tells KTTC NewsCenter, "and this is the first time I have had to chase off a bear."

Nobody was hurt.
