LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN (WXOW)-- A few of A.J. Petras' friends went down to Riverside Park Sunday afternoon, to remember their friend.
When Chad Coleman got to a friend's house Saturday night, he learned about the shooting death of A.J. and Paul Petras.
"We didn't really talk about it for a while," said Chad Coleman. "I didn't even want to hear what happened."
Instead of talking about his death, Chad and his friends focused on A.J.'s life and kind of person he was.
"He was probably one of the nicest guys I know," Chad said. "Really generous. He once bought all of us concert tickets to see a show in Madison cause he knew we couldn't afford it."
Chad says A.J. was happiest when he was on the water wakeboarding, or in the winter, on the hills snowboarding.
"He always had a smile on his face," Chad said. "He was really sarcastic too."
A.J. graduated from Aquinas High school in 2011 and snowboarded for his school team.
But Chad says, perhaps A.J.'s favorite past time was photography.
"Whenever I'd go in there, he'd show me all the newest all the new cameras and stuff," Chad said. "It was probably one of his favorite hobbies.""
A hobby he shared with his father, in a family business, that's now the scene of a family tragedy.
