Candidates and Issues - WXOW - MN - State House 28A - Adam Pace

Adam Pace

Candidate Statement

Hello Minnesota, Adam Pace here, your friendly neighborhood bartender and patriot. I love this great country of ours, and the principles it stands for. Unfortunately, it's under attack and needs our help. For too long now, failed leadership has been dismantling our very way of life. The powers that be see fit to give us The Patriot Act, The NDAA, SOPA, PIPA and CISPA which serve to strip of us our Constitutional Rights and Violate our Freedoms. Just as the TSA strips and violates our citizens.

Our liberties are being taken, our futures being mortgaged. Every day we see an ever expanding government, which over-taxes, over-spends, over-regulates, and just plain won't stay out of our business. I believe we are capable of running our own lives. We've drifted from a government of the people, and are left with a government run by career politicians, lawyers, lobbyists, and bureaucrats. I believe it can be fixed, but we need fresh ideas. If you're like me and ready for a change of pace, then this November vote for me, Adam Pace, for State Representative.

I was born in 1984 and raised in the suburbs of San Diego by a conservative and loving family. I attribute my character to parents who instilled me with morals and a thirst for knowledge. They were not ones to teach me what to think so much as how to think and for that I am grateful.

In the late 1990's I started to visit Minnesota when I had opportunities. I have an extended family in the state who I never knew growing up. During my visits over the following years, I fell in love with a lifestyle I had not known before. The laid back and friendly people, the lush natural environment, and the changing seasons were some of what made me look forward to each visit.

In my early 20's, my parents decided to retire to Winona, followed soon after by my brother and his family. I stayed behind for a few years, focusing my time on college, working as a bartender, and running my small business.

During my college years I became good friends, and eventually roommates, with Tim Snowball who at the time considered himself a liberal (although that would later change). He was interested in politics and would always keep everyone around us up to date on current events. The two of us would often discuss and debate political issues. While there were many things we disagreed on, we would also find common ground, as well as learn from each other's perspectives.

There is nothing wrong with having differences of opinion. We should all be able to learn from each other and work together, regardless of whether someone has a 'D' or 'R' attached to their name. I don't like the mindset some have that people who are on one 'side' or the other 'side' are somehow their enemies. There is only one 'side', that of the People, and that is the side that I am on.

Eventually, I decided to join the rest of my family in Minnesota and have been here ever since. In early 2012 I went to the Republican caucus to show my support of Ron Paul. I was attracted to his message of a limited constitutional government and the protection of liberty, as well as his principled and consistent nature. At caucus, I was elected a delegate and would go on to attend the county, district, and state conventions. During the state convention, I was elected a national delegate alternate with 59% of the vote.

Now I am focusing my time on running for the Minnesota House of Representatives. I am honored by the opportunity to represent my community. While you may now know a bit about me and what I stand for, I would like to know about you! A representative is your voice in the government. Please feel free to contact me about any issues you would like to have addressed.
