Hello. I am George Borzyskowski and I am running for mayor of the city of Winona. The number one reason I want to be your mayor is to keep Winona in its strong financial condition. We have achieved this position with guidance from our great financial department and council. There are a lot of economic pressures put on businesses and government today that present many challenges to the City of Winona. There is global competition for goods and services that Winona can provide. We need to stay competitive at the state level to maintain our Local Government Aid, and to continue to find ways to enable our current businesses to expand while attracting new ones. There is the ongoing challenge to keep our taxes level while offering a full range of services that our citizens deserve and expect. We also need to maintain the quality of life we enjoy in our beautiful river valley. Using my fourteen years of experience on council while building good relationships with city staff and council we have helped Winona achieve the condition we now enjoy, I feel now is the time for me to step up and continue to work for our historic city.
