LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - The La Crosse Women's Bowling Association is celebrating its 75th Anniversary Saturday with a tournament at Pla-Mor Lanes.

"It's almost overwhelming seeing all of the people that have been in the association over the  years and how many people enjoy the sport," said Ruth Breidel, president of the La Crosse Women's Bowling Association.

The tournament is open to all sanctioned bowlers. Shifts will take place at 12 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Participants can sign up the day of the tournament at Pla-Mor Lanes or sign up in advance at Pla-Mor Lanes, Coulee Golf Bowl, All Star Lanes, South Lanes Bowling and the Bangor Bowling Alley.

Signing up in advance will most likely guarantee participants a spot, Breidel said.

"Bowling is just like baseball, basketball, any of those other sports and you achieve to do your very best. It's just fun, relaxing entertainment," Breidel said.

The first ball will be bowled by a member of the association who's been a member for all 75 years.
