LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Shooting victim A.J. Petras was an avid snowboarder.
He competed with the Aquinas/Onalaska/West Salem ski team and spent many winter months practicing at Mt. La Crosse.
In honor of A.J., his friends asked Mt. La Crosse to provide a memorial.
"Everybody liked A.J. He was friendly and a lot of kids tried to snowboard like he did," said Mt. La Crosse General Manager Darcie Breidel. "Regardless of what they end up doing as far as a memorial, he'll definitely be missed out here at Mt. La Crosse. They're a very nice family and we're just so very sorry for their loss."
Formal memorial plants have not been made at Mt. La Crosse.
But there is a memorial account organized for A.J. at the Governmental Employees Credit Union.
Donations can be dropped off at the bank at 225 La Crosse Street, La Crosse, Wis.
