LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) As the weather becomes cooler, the golf season begins to wind down. But it won't end before an annual tournament designed to raise money to help children.
It's called the Doggone Golf Tournament sponsored by local veterinarian Tom Thompson and the Thompson Animal Medical Center. Thompson has sponsored the tournament for the past 17 years to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network.
CMN raises money to help local children and their families with medical care. Last year alone, Thompson says the Children's Miracle Network through Gundersen Lutheran provided one million dollars in various ways including programs, transportation and specialized equipment.
The Doggone Golf Tournament is Saturday, October 6 and Drugan's Castle Mound Golf Course. It begins at noon. You can still sign up by calling Thompson Animal Medical Center at 788-8820. The entry fee is $65 a person and includes 18 holes, dinner and an auction.
