LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A group called the Restore La Crosse Committee wants Common Council President Audrey Kader recalled.
The organization filed the paperwork Friday to remove Kader from her 11th District council seat.
Among the reasons, the committee says Kader has failed to provide acceptable leadership to the council and failing to provide direction to the mayor.
They also cite the attempt to reduce the elected mayor position by having an un-elected city administrator who would answer to the council.
Another was the elimination of the Committee of the Whole, which provided an opportunity for residents to express their opinions.
In order to hold a special recall election, the Restore La Crosse Committee has 60 days to gather 158 signatures from within District 11. That figure, according to the group, represents 25 percent of the number of voters in the last gubernatorial election.
If successful, an election would follow early next year.
