LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – WAFER food pantry held its monthly food fair Saturday.
Each food fair gives low income families the chance to receive additional food to expand their month's supply.
WAFER serves all of La Crosse County.
Channel One in Rochester, Minn. provided the food and supplies for today's fair, according to WAFER Executive Director Erin Waldhart.
She said today's fair helped almost 450 families at the La Crosse location, adding the hunger problem in the city is a growing issue.
"I don't think it's gotten any better and I don't think we've seen the end of the increase of it either," she said. "I think we're gonna have more and more families in need, more and more people who are struggling to get by every month."
Employees of Mutual Bank of Omaha volunteered their time at today's fair. The company donated $1,250 to WAFER.
