LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The La Crosse Women's Bowling Association celebrated its 75th anniversary with a bowling tournament.
Roughly 100 people showed up to bowl at Pla-Mor Lanes Saturday.
Among them, Geraldine Heilman, who rolled out the first ball.
Heilman's been a member of the association for all 75 years of its existence.
Despite her gutter ball on the first roll, she redeemed herself, knocking down eight pins her next try.
She said she hasn't bowled in 25 years!
"Bowling is a great sport for winter," Heilman said. "You meet a lot of nice people. I have a lot of nice friends in my bowling career."
Players got to bowl three games each. All sanctioned bowlers could participate.
This year's winners: Kathy Grapes took first place in the singles tournament. In the blind doubles tournament, Kathy Grapes and Chelsea Kraus won the top spot.
