ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The La Crosse County Sheriff's Department is searching for a Brice Prairie man who's been missing since Saturday.
The sheriff's department hasn't said what might have led to his disappearance, but they're hoping the public can help find him.
Dave Schroeder, 45, lives on Brice Prairie. He was last seen Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m.
Schroeder is six feet, five inches tall and weighs about 300 pounds. He has brown eyes with graying hair.
Search parties of family, community members, firefighters and EMS had been out all day searching for Schroeder.
Friends said he left the house on foot wearing a blue Journey Lutheran T-shirt.
He had come from a church event earlier that day.
The Sheriff's Department said it's not common to look for a grown man, but Schroeder has diabetes and he didn't leave with his medication or his wallet.
After five days, wearing only a T-shirt during the freezing nights, the community is out looking for Schroeder, hoping he's okay.
"You know there can be some kind of a medical issue (or) he found someplace to stay warm. He found something like that, you know, that's keeping him safe. You never know. You don't give up that hope. Best case scenario is we find him and he's okay," said Fritz Leinfelder, an investigator with the La Crosse Sheriff's Department.
Around 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon, the search and rescue group headed back to Oak Grove Learning Center to re-group before the head out again in search of Schroeder.
They'll search until it gets dark.
Wednesday, a dog picked up Schroeder's scent in the Oak Grove Area. The team decided to concentrate the search there.
"Well we just continue the search. We ask for, you know, prayers. We want to bring some peace to this family so they know what happened to him and hopefully they bring him home safe," said Kristie Tweed of Journey Lutheran Church.
If you have seen Schroeder or know where he might be, contact the La Crosse County Sheriff's Department at 608-785-5942.
