First Senate debate is Friday night

Milwaukee (WXOW) - The race for an open U.S. Senate seat will be taken up a notch Friday night.

Tommy Thompson and Tammy Baldwin will debate for the first time.  It is the first of three scheduled debates between the two candidates.

Recent polls have shown the race is even or have Baldwin with a slight edge.  

Friday night's debate is sponsored by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.  It's in Milwaukee and you can watch it on WXOW News 19, beginning at 8 p.m.  We will also be carrying it on the web at www.wxow.com/live.

You can expect questions about health care, the economy and foreign policy, among other topics.
