Viterbo's Machometa earns honor

Posted:

La Crosse, WISCONSIN    For the second consecutive week, Viterbo University women's soccer freshman Molly Machometa (McHenry, Ill.) has been named Midwest Collegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her accomplishments the week of September 24-30th.

Machometa continued her scoring explosion last week as she scored three more goals and assisted on another in two games last week.
First, Machometa scored what turned out to be the game winner in Viterbo's 3-2 upset win over #25 ranked Ashford University.
Then in Saturday's 4-0 win over William Penn University, Machometa scored two goals in the first eight minutes of the game and then assisted on a second half goal.

Machometa now has 24 goals, 7 assists for 55 points. Her goal total and point total ranks tops in the NAIA while her goals per game average of 2.18 ranks third.
Her 24 goals are the second most in a single season by a V-Hawk and are just 6 away from the school's single season record while she is just 12 points away from the single season point's record.

Machometa has not been the only one scoring for the V-Hawks this season as there are five players with 12 or points on the season. As a team, the V-Hawks have outscored their opponents 55-12 and ranked second in the NAIA in scoring.
