ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Allen Quist wants Congressman Tim Walz to apologize.
The Republican congressional candidate said Walz accused him of wanting to cut veterans benefits.
Quist said Congressman Walz made that comment during last week's heated debate at Somerby Golf Community in Byron.
Quist said he doesn't want to cut veterans benefits. He stopped in Rochester Tuesday to clarify his position.
"The way to do that is to keep our financial house in order so that we have the money to pay for the benefit," Quist said. "Otherwise we might not be able to afford our responsibility."
Walz and Quist are scheduled to meet for two more debates between now and the November election.
