AUSTIN, Minn. (WXOW) -- We're now two days into October and a familiar fall sight is seeing our area farmers hard at work harvesting their crops.
According to the USDA, 53 percent of Minnesota corn fields have already been harvested as of Sunday, compared to only 5 percent completed a year ago.
Soybeans in Minnesota are already over 75 percent done. That's a fifty-percent jump from a year ago.
The early start to the spring planting season is one reason fields are being harvested earlier.
The survey also listed the pasture conditions across the state, showing 60 percent at a poor rating or worse due to dry summer conditions.
