High school students get a taste of college life

Posted:

LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN (WXOW)-- Area high school students got a glimpse of college life Friday. The students from Logan and Central High Schools spent the day at the UW-La Crosse.

An organization called La Crosse Promise sponsored the event.

The group is focused on encouraging high school students to continue their education, and to get the students excited about the local universities.

The day included learning about the academic and extra curricular opportunities available at

UW-L.

"Two important things for me would probably be how interactive the life is, like teachers to students," said Quincy Drane, a junior at Logan High School. "And another is just like what's offered at the school, like UW-L has a lot of intramural stuff and that's important to me."

After the tour the students had lunch on campus, sat in on a lecture and heard from UW-L students.
