Power Restored to South Side

UPDATE: La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -XCcel Energy has restored power to the remaining 1,000 customers.  Spokesman Brian Elwood says power was restored to the first 5,000 customers by 6:50 and to the remaining 1,000 by 7:25pm.

 

UPDATE: LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN (WXOW)— According to Xcel, power was restored to 5000 of the 6000 impacted by the outage.

LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN (WXOW)— About 6000 people in La Crosse and Stoddard are without power.

According to Xcel Energy the outage began around 6 PM. Crews responding found a squirrel had come into contact with energized equipment at a substation serving the area. Repairs are being made.

A spokesman for Xcel Energy says he does not know when power will be restored. Stay with News 19 for updates.
