The Madison Area Peace Coalition held a rally in downtown Madison on Saturday with the theme of "End the Wars".
They say it was one of many scheduled across the country, on the weekend that marks the 11th anniversary of U.S. military action in Afghanistan and the launch of the war on terror.
"All the war spending when we have these economic problems her in Wisconsin, and yet all the money, and all the money that's spent for war could be spent for other items here in Madison and in Dane County," said Steve Books, one of the ralliers.
The Madison Area Peace Coalition says war spending diverts money from needed social programs, job creation efforts and education.
