WINONA, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Police in Winona are trying to track down 50 or 60 people who were fighting in the street early Saturday morning.
One man was critically hurt in the melee. The man was rushed to Saint Mary's Hospital where he is in critical condition with head injuries.
Winona police will not identify him other than to say he's a 21-year-old man from Winona.
Police Deputy Chief Tom Williams said the man was kicked in the head after being knocked to the ground as two groups were fighting at Franklin and 9th Street.
It happened just before 1 a.m. Saturday, and started when one group was partying on a deck outside bantering about the Vikings and the Packers.
Williams said another group walked by, words were exchanged and the two groups began fighting in the street.
When police arrived, the victim was conscious and trying to get up but his condition worsened.
He was flown to Saint Mary's Hospital after taking a turn for the worse at Winona Health.
