LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The organizers of the annual Chili Cook Off event in downtown La Crosse, set for Saturday, October 13, are canceling it due to expected bad weather.
State Bank Financial made the announcement Thursday afternoon.
The annual fundraiser, which draws more than 1,200 people annually, supports the D.A.R.E, G.R.E.A.T and Habitat for Humanity.
"This is the only fundraiser for D.A.R.E. and G.R.E.A.T, and a good one for Habitat (for Humanity) as well, so it was a hard decision to make", said Wayne Oliver, Senior Vice President, State Bank Financial. "We have to keep safety in mind, as well the investment that our incredible chili cook partners put into their efforts."
The annual fundraiser, which draws more than 1,200 people annually to the bank's parking lot where several dozen booths offer chili tastings.
