Onalaska, WISCONSIN (WXOW) The long wait ends for coulee Region Chill fans.
The home opener arrives Friday night at the Omni Center when they host Bismarck.
But it was the big news off the ice during the off season that created some buzz.
Michelle and Kevin Bryant took over ownership and then they hired John Hamre to run the team.
And he's already learned a lot about his team after playing the first 7 games on the road.
"So far it's a really resilient and competitive group. There's a lot of growth. They really showed they want to be a close-knit, unified team. Teams that come together and play as one those are teams that over the long haul build and sustain and grow," Hamre said.
"Everybody is chomping at the bit to get on the ice. We started the season with a few away games. It's a little tougher playing in front of the away crowd, but everybody is so excited about getting on the ice," said Chill defenseman Brady Riesgraf.
Friday's home opener start at 7pm.
Same two teams play Saturday at the Omni Center at 7 o'clock.
