Western Tech. College Officers SWAT Tactical Class

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – Western Technical College is playing host to a pair of Florida Police officers this week – one of whom is Mike Kilian, of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Department.

Kilian also owns Muddy Boots Tactical. The company has been hired by Western to teach a basic SWAT training class on campus.

Tuesday, law enforcement officers from Western Wisconsin participated in drill after drill at the old dormitory building on 6th and Vine Streets.

"It's dynamic training, which is the fun part," said Western's Law Enforcement Coordinator Kellie McElroy.

"Getting this training here at our school and into our area is really a great opportunity for all of us," she said.

"We give these guys all these different scenarios that they can then go back to their teams and train with," Kilian said. "It's not just us teaching them something they forget. Our idea is we teach them, and then they take that back to their agencies and hopefully grow and build on that."

Muddy Boots will be training officers at Western for the duration of the week.
