10th fatality in Vernon County

Town of Greenwood, WI (WXOW) - A Hillsboro man is killed in a car crash in Vernon County.

It happened at approximately 9:20 Thursday night in the Town of Greenwood.

The Vernon County Sheriff's Department says 59-year-old Joseph Verbsky was traveling on St. Johns Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle around a curve.  Authorities say the car went off the road and down an embankment.

Officials say Verbsky was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the 10th traffic fatality for the year in Vernon County.
