LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW)-- A preliminary hearing Friday morning for a teen arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies in La Crosse.
Police arrested 17-year-old De'Aaron Appleton at a Logan vs. Central football game.
Appleton faces charges for a string of gang-related robberies in La Crosse. He was arrested along with a 16-year-old juvenile and 19-year-old Juan Winslow. Winslow has not obtained an attorney yet.
The break-ins happened over the last couple of months. According to police, the suspects admit to membership in a gang and stealing from area homes. The most recent robbery happened October 5, at a home on 5th Avenue.
An investigator testified today that one of the suspects, Juan Winslow, admitted to involvement in a robbery on 8th Street.
"He made several statements during our interview, including what was the objective of going inside these homes," said Andrew Rosenow, an investigator for the La Crosse Police Department. "Specifically the 8th street residence, and he said get money...I'm guessing just get money."
Both Appleton and Winslow will be in court again next week.
