Packers' depth on defense tested

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The Green Bay Packers are about to find out if their defense truly does have better depth than last year.

The Packers ranked dead last in the NFL in yards allowed last year, and general manager Ted Thompson used his first six draft picks on defensive players and added two more rookie defenders via free agency.

Because of injuries, some of those players will see playing time Sunday at St. Louis. They are expected to include two rookies in cornerback Casey Hayward and defensive lineman Mike Daniels.

Hayward has three interceptions in the past two games.
