ATC, Xcel hold open house for Badger Coulee Transmission Line

Posted:

ONALASKA, Wisconsin  (WXOW)-- American Transmission Company and Xcel Energy held an open house in Onalaska on Tuesday.

The open house gave the public the chance to view the final two proposed routes for the Badger Coulee Transmission Line project.

The system would go from the Madison area through La Crosse where it would connect with Cap X 20-20 in Minnesota.

Power companies say the lines are needed to meet the energy needs.

This is the publics last chance to share their opinions with ATC before they apply for approval to Wisconsin's Public Service Commission in 2013.

"Public feedback gives us information about the community and area that we may not know about it so its important for the public to stay involved in the process."

ATC is accepting written comments from the public.

They will include those comments in the packet they submit to the Public Service Commission in 2013.

ATC and Xcel Energy will hold a couple more open houses in our area:

Oct. 24, 1 to 7 p.m., Cashton Community Hall, Cashton

Oct. 25, 1 to 7 p.m., Best Western Arrowhead Lodge and Suites, Black River Falls
