Eau Claire (WQOW) - A homicide charge is filed Wednesday against the suspect in a weekend stabbing in Eau Claire.
Doua Vang now faces charges of first degree intentional homicide in the death of 17-year-old Bobbie Vue.
Vang was celebrating his 20th birthday at his apartment on Richard Drive Saturday night.
He told police that a man showed up at the party uninvited and was asked to leave after an argument broke out. That man allegedly returned 30 minutes later with four friends, at least one of whom was armed with a broken-off pool cue.
According to the charges filed Wednesday, one member of that group told police that their friend had been disrespected and they had come to the apartment intending to "teach them a lesson."
A fight broke out, and responding officers say several people were bleeding profusely due to head wounds.
Police say Vang told them the group wouldn't leave and kept fighting, so he went back into his apartment and grabbed a large kitchen knife which he used to threaten the group with no success. Vang then allegedly stabbed Vue in the chest as Vue was hitting Vang's brother.
Vang is free after posting a $10,000 cash bond.
The members of the group that allegedly came to the apartment and assaulted people at the party remain in custody. Most of them will be back in court in November.
