LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) ----- House Speaker and former Presidential Candidate, Newt Gingrich paid a special visit to the La Crosse Republican headquarters this evening for their "Get out the Vote Rally." The House Speaker said tonight's visit is meant to emphasize the importance of early voting.
Gingrich followed a long line of speakers including Colonel Ray Boland from the 3rd Congressional District whose running for Congress against Ron Kind and U.S. Senate candidate Bill Feehan whose challenging democrat Jennifer Shilling.
Gingrich said momentum is on the side of the Republicans but warned them not to take anything for granted. "Nobody can let up for one minute. And I want to commend what you're all doing right here at the headquarters, its the exactly right attitude. You gotta go all out all day everyday, you gotta turn out to vote. What matters in the end is getting the votes. I think this is going to be so close state wide that both in Tommy Thompson's election and in the case of the Romney Ryan ticket. La Crosse County can make a big difference."
The speaker's wife, Callista was here also. She's in town to promote her new childrens book on American government. She'll be at the Barnes and Noble bookstore at Valley View Mall tomorrow at 6pm to sign copies.
