
La Crescent, Minnesota (WXOW) - Strong thunderstorms moving through central Wisconsin and parts of Minnesota Wednesday into Thursday, destroying several barns and causing power outages.
The Gaspers family, in La Crescent, woke up to find a mess in their yard.
Early morning winds moved their horse barn off its foundation into the neighboring pasture.
It also destroyed their windmill and round horse corall.
Marcie Gaspers said she heard the storm hit, heard a loud crash and woke up.
Marathon County emergency management director Steve Hagman says the severe weather damaged about a half-dozen rural properties near Colby, including several barns which were leveled. Hagman inspected damage in the area Thursday. He says there are no reports of any injuries.
The National Weather Service reports wind gusts of up to 50 mph with heavy downpours and hail.
Wisconsin Public Service Corp. says nearly 4,700 customers lost power because of the storms.
