ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Republican challenging First District Congressman Tim Walz is denouncing a political flier being circulated by the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party and the Walz re-election campaign.
"Allen Quist wants to end Medicare..." charges the mailing, and the GOP candidate is staging news conferences across southern Minnesota calling that a lie.
In a statement released by the Quist campaign, it states Mr. Quist learned that the last Walz Federal Election Commission reports reveal Walz transferred $135,000 dollars to the state DFL party... in essence paying for the "false advertising."
"This is dishonest and deceitful," said Quist. "And it's time for him to be a man and own up to his part in this piece. And to issue an apology and a retraction. Because it's blatantly false."
DFL Communications Director Kate Munson says the party stands behind the flier. Munson says the only apology that needs to be made is from Mr. Quist to senior citizens.
