ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - If you ask the Onalaska Police department, there's only one day a year when it's acceptable to run from the cops.
More than 350 runners participated in the third annual Run From The Cops Walk/Run Saturday.
Last year, participants raised more than $5,000 for charity.
Police are now totaling the money raised at Saturday's event.
"It's just a really fun event," said event organizer Lisa Gerbig. "The theme of our event, Run from the Cops, the people aren't actually running from the cops but just to come out and have the camaraderie between the Police Department and the citizens that we serve. We are so proud."
A majority of proceeds from this year's run will benefit the Onalaska/Holmen Food Basket and the Santa's List Program.
The Santa's List Program provides struggling families with a meal, gifts and a visit from Santa on Christmas.
