WINDSOR (WKOW) -- Dane County officials say a heroin user was found unconscious behind the wheel of his pick-up truck on Wednesday night.
The Sheriff's Department says a deputy found the truck stopped in the lane of traffic, with its emergency lights on, on Pepsi Way in the town of Windsor around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. When the deputy approached the vehicle, he found the driver behind the wheel, but unresponsive.
Authorities say the deputy tried waking the man up by knocking on the window and yelling. After about five minutes the driver regained consciousness.
The investigation revealed 22-year-old Brandon Ziegler, of Deforest, had just used heroin. Heroin was located inside the vehicle, along with numerous items of paraphernalia.
Ziegler was arrested for 2nd offense OWI (Controlled Substance). He is also facing tentative charges of Possession of Heroin and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
After Ziegler was transported to Meriter Hospital for a blood draw and medical evaluation, he was booked into the Dane County Jail.
