LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The Salvation Army's seasonal programs began Monday.
About 100 people lined up before the "Christmas Headquarters'" doors even opened.
Those in line could register for Toys for Tots, The Angel Giving Tree and Christmas Food Baskets.
"The word grateful isn't enough to describe how I feel because of all the generous people that are volunteering their time for the Salvation Army, that are sponsoring the children," said Jeff Hoch, Salvation Army volunteer coordinator.
Registration is at 47 Copeland Ave. in La Crosse.
Registrants must live in La Crosse or La Crescent and have proof of residency.
The community is also encouraged to participate in the Angel Giving Tree. It's a program where a person sponsors a child in need for the holidays.
To participate, call 608-782-6162, go online to www.bells2ring.org, or, starting Nov. 15, go to the Valley View Mall and pick up a tag from the Angel Tree.
