LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- State Senator Jennifer Shilling defeated Republican challenger Bill Feehan in Tuesday night's race for Wisconsin's 32nd State Senate seat.
Shilling was first elected to the seat in 2011 when she ousted Republican incumbent Dan Kapanke in a special, recall election.
"Last year we won and served in the senate for one year, so it seemed like it was a probationary period," Shilling said. "So I went right back out and continued that job interview with the voters and residents of the 32nd District, and now tonight we've completed that job interview."
"I'm honored to represent Western Wisconsin in the State Senate," she said.
Prior to serving in the Senate, Shilling occupied La Crosse's 95th State Assembly seat for more than 10 years.
