LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW)—UW-La Crosse's It Makes Cents group brought out the cash cart, on Wednesday, to quiz students about finances, while giving them a ride to class in a golf cart.
It's based on the TV show cash cab, where contestants win money by answering questions as they ride to their destination.
Students didn't win money like they do on the TV show.
But cart driver, Matt Helsin, said they get something better.
Students learn tips on budgeting, saving, investing and protecting their identity, basic areas that he said a lot of students struggle with.
"Hopefully they'll learn that there's more to being smart with your money than they think," Helsin said. "It's not as difficult to get on top of it and putting in a little time and effort can lead to big payoffs in the future especially when it comes to things like student loans and credit."
Students won candy and fake money that can be redeemed on November 15 when the group hosts the campus Price is Right game night.
