LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Voters passed an $80 million referendum to expand Western Tuesday.
The technical college wants to attract more students, man of whom will remain in the area to fill jobs.
Western's president says this will add millions of dollars to the local economy.
Among other projects, Western staff will look at expanding the north side Industrial Park and the landscape and Agriculture Center.
"Beginning fall 2013, we're launching something called Western Express," said Western's President Lee Rasch. "It's an extensive weekend, evening, online blending initiative reaching more working adults. These are things we can start and once the facilities projects come in, they're gonna kick into a higher gear."
Rasch said the college hopes to begin the first phases of construction next spring.
