Western Tech observes moment of silence

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Students at Western Technical College observed a moment of silence today to honor veterans. This was followed by a "Remembrance Roll Call" of fallen soldiers.

"It was a very shocking presentation," said Carlie Rowe, Student at Western Technical College. "With the amount of names of our soldiers who have given it all for this country. I'm glad I was here."

"You've got a lot of emotions," said Marcus Heller, Western Technical College Student and US Marine Corps Veteran. "I mean, I didn't know any of the marines or sailors or soldiers that were on the list personally. But I still have, in over six and a half years in the Marine Corps, buried about a dozen friends.  And it's a lot. Just remembering them it's painful. But you keep them in your heart, keep them in your memory at all times."

This was part of a national college movement that aims to make Veterans Day a "special" day of remembrance for college students nationwide.
