LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW)—The Dwelling Place, unique new faith based family home for adults, run by Catholic Charities, is ready to open its doors to residents.
The home allows adults with disabilities to live together and grow in their independence.
The one story home is located on Green Bay Street in La Crosse.
It has four bedrooms and plenty of common space.
Right now, they're in the final phases of selecting their four residents, and hope to have them moved in before Christmas.
"I'm looking forward to the residents coming together and gelling and becoming a family because this is where they're going to live fro the rest of their life and for the staff to become a part of that family," Steven Brunette, Adult Support Transition Coordinator said.
Sister Karen Grochowski, Program Coordinator said she is excited about the philosophy of the home.
"We'll have a strong community component to the home and a strong community component so I'm excited about helping to build that community and having the prayer services," Grochowski said.
The community is invited to evening prayer services at the home in their chapel once residents are moved in.
Everyone is also invited to an open house this Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
