LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) La Crosse Police say drugs are a growing problem. In fact, a community services officer says it's fair to say that the source of many other crimes is related to drugs.
Not long ago, the focus was the drug methamphetamine, but according to Wisconsin's Attorney General J. B. Van Hollen, good law enforcement is working to dry up the supply. The state has also focused on making a dent in the prescription drug trade.
A local addiction educator and prevention specialist says prescription drugs are harder to get and becoming more expensive.
While those drugs remain a problem, the developments related to them have made room for another drug that everyone is concerned about. That drug is heroin and it's a challenge for law enforcement in most every county in the state.
