LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Gundersen Lutheran gave students at area schools bracelets, hoping the students will get the word out about lung cancer.
"Reach the young people before they actually reach the decision to start smoking," said Jared Kast, Gundersen Lutheran's Cancer Center program manager. "Raise the awareness on lung cancer and if we can get to the schools, give the bracelets, and kids see the posters, they'll hopefully spark a conversation with their family members."
Healthcare providers hope these conversations with friends and family keep more people from smoking.
