Caledonia takes down B.O.L.D; headed for title game

Minneapolis, MINNESOTA (WXOW)  The semifinal match up between two undefeated teams, Caledonia and BOLD, was a see-saw battle with Caledonia (12-0) prevailing 26-24.

Caledonia will go for their third straight state title next week Friday, November 23rd against Moose Lake/Willow River.

Thursday's game featured many exciting plays - long runs, big pass plays, lost fumbles, possession-stopping sacks, a blocked punt, missed and blocked extra points, a muffed punt return, a faked punt for a big gain, long field goal, and interceptions.

Caledonia secured the two-point victory when Brad Strub gained 22 yards on a third-and-14 at Caledonia's own 40 with 2:53 remaining in the game.

BOLD (11-1) did get one final possession to no avail.
Alex Varney threw for 137 yards and a touchdown for Caledonia.

Levi Schmitz was credited for two touchdowns for Caledonia; one on a 46-yard pass reception, the other on a blocked punt in the end zone.

He also punted four times for a 36-yard average, getting two inside the BOLD 20-yard line. BOLD led in many statistical categories: first downs (14-9), offensive yards, (322-215), and time of possession (28:18-19:42).

Quarterback Tyler Rock led BOLD with 146 yards passing on 9-of-18, and on the ground with 90 yards on 13 carries.
