Kids honored for actions during temple shooting

OAK CREEK (WKOW) -- Two young members of the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek were honored for their heroics during the mass shooting this summer.

11-year-old Abhay and 9-year-old Amanat Singh received the "Yell and Tell" award from the Oak Creek police department Thursday.

The two saw the gunman walking toward them and ran inside the temple to warn people he was coming.

"I feel proud that I had the guts to go inside," says Abhay.

"Always if you see something dangerous you should always tell adults first," says Amanat.

The two kids were at the temple preparing for Amanat's birthday party.
