Travel officials prepare for busy week on Wisconsin roads

State travel officials are anticipating a busy week on Wisconsin roads.

This year Thanksgiving falls in the middle of the 9 day gun-deer season. So the Wisconsin Department of Transportation says even more drivers will be on the roads.

AAA predicts more than 43 million Americans will hit the road this year around the Thanksgiving holiday. That's up from last year.

"It's kind of like the beginning of summer and the end of summer," says Sgt.. Rhae Stertz, Wisconsin State Patrol. "You get Memorial Day and Labor Day, and then this is the next big travel day besides Christmas"

Officials say the busiest day will be next Sunday. When both hunters and holiday travelers return home.
