ATLANTA, Georgia (WXOW) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Americans are drinking about 100 calories a day in alcohol.
That's almost as many calories as they consume in sugary drinks and soda.
The new CDC study finds adults consume 5-percent of all their calories from alcoholic beverages compared to almost 6-percent for other sweetened drinks.
The research also made a few other discoveries such as, men drink more calories a day than women.
Plus, men also drink more beer than other types of alcohol.
The Distilled Spirits Council is weighing in.
The study also shows the overwhelming majority of adults drink moderately.
