LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The Dancing with the La Crosse Stars competition Saturday raised a total of $112,500 for the local chapter of the American Red Cross.
That is a record amount of money, said Carol Abrahamzon, Red Cross regional development director.
"I think what the event brings, besides just to the Red Cross, is a chance for everybody to get together and rally for one organization, for one mission, that is an organization that serves the entire La Crosse community," Abrahamzon said.
Dancing with the La Crosse Stars is in its seventh year.
The competition takes 11 local celebrities and pairs them with expert dancers in a dance competition.
Among the competitors, News 19's Kristen Barbaresi.
Gundersen Lutheran's Kelley Bahr took home the night's trophy.
Organizers said there was also a record turnout at the La Crosse Center – where the competition took place this year.
