ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) – A fundraiser Saturday is helping make a Tomah student's dream to bring clean water to Uganda a possibility, three years after his death.
Western marketing students hosted a fundraiser at Onalaska's Coulee Golf and Bowl benefiting the Remembering Jesse Parker charity.
Parker was killed in a car crash in 2009.
Events at the fundraiser included bowling, Texas Hold ‘Em, and various raffle prizes.
"When we were first told about this event it was just pretty much, you know, it was a class project. It was a grade. It was you need to do good for our class," said Kelly Cottrell, a co-organizer of the event. "As we had been working on it in the last couple of months, it is such an eye opener; it is so near and dear to our hearts."
Parker would have been a freshman at Western in the fall of 2009.
