LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - After a not so welcome home opener, the UW-La Crosse women's basketball team sought redemption in day two of the Holiday Inn Express Thanksgiving Classic.
UW-L hosted Loras College in the finale on Sunday. La Crosse led by six at the break thanks in part to Briana Radowicz who finished with a game and career high 24 points. Loras came only as close as three points in the second. UWL Freshman Camille Driscoll added a career high 21 points of her own to propel the Eagles to an 81-70 win.
Driscoll said, "They have a big 6'3" girl, so we really needed to box out. They had some good outside shooters and penetraters, so we really needed to have solid defense."
"The biggest thing was, we didn't get in foul trouble and we made shots," said UWL head coach Lois Heeren. "Last night we really struggled. We were cold and what a difference it makes when you start putting the ball in the hole."
After the Eagle women wrapped up the tournament, the UWL men hosted Luther College in a non-conference match-up. Lucas Collom netted his first career double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds as La Crosse knocked-down the Norse, 69-58. La Crosse improves to 4-0 on the season.
