LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN (WXOW)-- The holidays bring all kinds of people together, and in La Crosse that means Republicans and Democrats.
It's called "Together for Toys," and it's a joint effort from both parties to collect donations for Toys for Tots.
The La Crosse County Republican chair and the 2011 chair of the County Democrats held a news conference designed to encourage members of their parties to donate.
"The time for competition is over. The elections are over. It's been a very long two years in Wisconsin and people just want to see people come together for good and that's what we're doing," said Julian Bradley, chair of the La Crosse County Republicans.
"The things that make us similar are far more important than what makes us different," said Andrew Londre, former chair of the La Crosse County Democrats. "Politics is just one small aspect of who are as people."
Donations can be dropped off at the Black River Beach Club on the Northside all week between 9 am and 7 pm.
