LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - La Crosse welcomed a special visitor Dec. 1--Saint Nicholas!
He greeted area kids at the Lady of Guadalupe Shrine.
Saint Nick told children the tale of how he became known as Santa Claus.
Refreshments and activities were provided for the kids afterward.
"There is definitely that buzz of excitement in the air, especially this time of year with Christmas coming. It's December today, so Christmas is on its way they know, and Santa's here, and he's here to see them so it's exciting for everyone...even I'm excited," Gift Shop and Programs Assistant Elizabeth Brannon said.
The church's festival of Saint Nicholas is Dec. 6.
